Saturday, 1 August 2026, marked another exciting milestone for the Coding for Mandela (C4M) Challenge as the Tembisa/Ivory community proudly hosted its local tournament. The event brought together enthusiastic young learners who demonstrated creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and computational thinking through the Tangible Africa coding activities.
The Coding for Mandela Challenge has become far more than just a coding competition; it is a movement that is transforming communities by making coding education accessible to every child, regardless of their background. Through this initiative, learners are developing essential 21st-century skills, including logical reasoning, collaboration, resilience, and innovation, preparing them for future opportunities in the digital economy.

Next Stop: Lesotho!
The journey continues this coming Saturday as the Coding for Mandela Challenge crosses borders into the Kingdom of Lesotho. The next tournament will take place at Boipabolo Junior School, where learners will compete in the School Tier Competition.
This exciting cross-border event reflects the expanding reach of the Coding for Mandela initiative, bringing together learners from different communities and countries under a shared vision of empowering young Africans through digital skills and innovation. The Lesotho School Tier promises to showcase exceptional talent while strengthening regional collaboration in coding education.
