United Siyafunda is proud to announce a new project investigating how the power of the internet and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can substantially update and enhance education in a rural Gambian school. Our goal is to improve internet connectivity to prove that through innovative technology, we can bridge the digital divide for students in remote areas.
Due to the school’s rural location, traditional connectivity such as copper or fiber-optic cables were not a viable option. To overcome this, we have facilitated reliable, high-speed broadband access by installing a satellite dish on the school roof, allowing the facility to communicate directly with orbiting Starlink satellites.
With this foundation of connectivity established, the next phase of our project, which will commence shortly, is dedicated to comprehensive teacher training. By equipping educators with the skills to utilize the US buggy and other Coding and Robotics tools, we are ensuring they have the confidence to lead their students into the future of STEAM education.
We are committed to documenting this journey and will keep you posted on our progress via this blog.
