The event provided children with an exciting opportunity to strengthen their coding and computational thinking skills through Tangible Africa’s unplugged coding activities. Learners enthusiastically participated in the tournament, demonstrating teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while embracing the spirit of innovation.

Adding to the excitement, the Soweto community also held a successful practice tournament in preparation for the main Coding for Mandela event, which will take

place at Jabulani Safe Hub on 15 August 2026. The practice session gave learners valuable competition experience, boosted their confidence, and allowed teams to refine their skills and strategies ahead of the upcoming community engagement tournament.
